Responsibilities:
The Regional Office for Southeast and East Asia of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) seeks applications from qualified candidates for a Manager, Communications and Partnerships, beginning August 2010.

This position is, based in Singapore, works closely with the Regional Director and is a senior local position in the regional office. Responsible for developing, managing and diffusing the regional communications program, the position also works closely with other regional staff on related issues including partnership development for IDRC's varied research for development support programs in the Agriculture and Environment, Health, Innovation and Science, as well as, Social and Economic Policy. This position works with IDRC's many regional research partners to assist them in building their capacities for both communications and resource mobilization.

The right person for this job is a self-starter and has at least 5 years, and preferably more, experience in the business of social and economic development in SE Asia. The successful candidate possesses a passion for development communications and works well as both a leader and a member of teams emanating from both the regional office and HQ in Ottawa. He/she likes to write, enjoys public presentations and has facility with conventional print and broadcast media as well as emerging Web 2.O platforms and technologies. He/she will also be familiar with the major organizations in SE Asia that are involved in international development. Frequent travel will be required.

This position is open to citizens of Southeast Asian countries. Applicants should have worked in the area of development with a strong record of accomplishment in communications and partnerships. A Bachelor's Degree is required in a relevant discipline and a Master's level degree would also be an asset. Very important is the drive, vision and passion to help IDRC's regional communications program continue to succeed. The position requires fluency in English. The starting salary range for this position is S$6,000 - 8,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Political Science, Business Studies/Administration/Management, Linguistics/Languages, Mass Communications, Others or equivalent.
  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Preferably Managers who have experience in development research in the business of social and economic development in Southeast and East Asia.
  • Candidates should have a strong record of accomplishments in communications and partnerships development.
